Privacy Policy

Effective August 2026

This policy explains how Sellr.cc ("Sellr", "we", "us") handles data when you use sellr.cc to build and run an online store ("Merchant"), or when you shop at a store built on Sellr ("Customer"). It applies to sellr.cc itself and to every store hosted on a sellr.cc subdomain or connected custom domain.

1. Information we collect

From Merchants. When you register a store we collect your name, email address, phone number, and business details you provide (store name, description, logo, banner, bank account details for payouts, and any Paystack API keys you connect). We also store the content you add to your store - products, categories, pages, and settings.

From Customers. When someone places an order on a Sellr-powered store, the merchant's checkout collects what's needed to fulfil that order: name, phone number, delivery or pickup details, and order contents. This information is entered by the customer directly into the merchant's store and is controlled by that merchant, not by Sellr - see "Merchant vs. Sellr responsibility" below.

Automatically. Like most web platforms, we log standard technical data - IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps - for security, fraud prevention, and diagnosing problems.

2. How we use information

3. Merchant vs. Sellr responsibility

Sellr is the infrastructure a Merchant uses to collect and store their own Customer data - we do not sell, or use, a Merchant's customer list for our own marketing. Each Merchant is responsible for how they use their Customers' data (for example, contacting a customer about an order) and for complying with applicable data protection law in how they run their store. If you're a Customer with a question about how your data was used, your first point of contact is the store you ordered from.

4. Payments

Card and bank transfer payments are processed by Paystack, a licensed Nigerian payment processor, using the Merchant's own connected Paystack account. Sellr does not receive or store full card numbers, and settlement happens directly between Paystack and the Merchant's bank account - Sellr does not hold Customer funds. Paystack's own privacy policy governs how it handles payment data.

5. Phone numbers and WhatsApp

Order and account notifications (new order, payment confirmed, order status changes) are sent by email, not WhatsApp. Where a Merchant lists a WhatsApp number on their store, it's shown to Customers so they can message the Merchant directly - Sellr doesn't send anything through it on the Merchant's behalf.

6. Cookies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you logged in, remember your theme preference, and understand basic usage of sellr.cc. We don't use third-party advertising trackers.

7. Data security

We use industry-standard measures - encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls - to protect data on Sellr. No system is perfectly secure, and we ask Merchants to use a strong, unique password and keep their Paystack and SMTP credentials confidential.

8. Data retention

We retain account and order data for as long as a Merchant's store is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal, tax, and dispute-resolution purposes. A Merchant can request deletion of their store and associated data by contacting us; some records may be retained where we're legally required to.

9. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights over data Sellr controls directly (your Merchant account), contact us using the details below. For data held by a specific store (your order history with that Merchant), contact that store directly.

10. Children's privacy

Sellr is not directed at children under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll update the effective date above when this policy changes, and post material changes here. Continuing to use Sellr after a change means you accept the updated policy.
