Setting Up Custom Email (SMTP) for Customer Notifications
07 Aug 2026
By default, emails to your customers - order confirmations, status updates - are sent from Sellr's own address. If you'd rather they arrive looking like they came from your own brand, you can connect your own SMTP relay.
Step 1: Get your SMTP details
You'll need this from your email provider (Gmail, Zoho, your domain host, etc.):
- Host (e.g.
smtp.gmail.com) - Port (usually
587for TLS, or465for SSL) - Username and Password
- The From address and From name you want customers to see
Step 2: Add them to Sellr
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Fulfillment & Email.
- Find the Custom email (SMTP) card.
- Fill in your host, port, username, password, and encryption type.
- Add your From address and From name.
- Click Save.
Step 3: Send yourself a test
Once saved, a Send test email to my inbox button appears - use it to confirm everything's working before your customers see it. If it fails, the error message shown is exactly what your SMTP provider returned, so you'll know what to fix.
Turning it off
Flip the toggle at the top of the card off any time - your customers still get emails, they'll just come from Sellr's address again instead. Your saved settings aren't lost, so turning it back on later doesn't mean re-entering everything.
What this doesn't affect
This only changes emails to your customers. Notifications about your own Sellr account - new order alerts, low stock warnings, and so on - always come from Sellr's platform address, regardless of this setting.
